Hey all, I'm moving my blog to a new URL. I created this blog on a whim and naming it after an inside joke seemed like a good idea at the time (at 3 AM... after finishing the reading assignment for a storyboarding class) but the truth is "screen-world" is too difficult to remember and not really all that related to what I post. so you can now find me at stephmarshallart.blogspot.com.

More Texture fun

So I've been spending way too much time on this latest texture but I'm pretty pleased with how it's looking. there are a few more little changes that need to be made before she's declared done. I plan on adding some fuzz to the hair, making the eyes a bit more wooden, and breaking up the dress with a ribbon or something. I also did about 85% of the model.

so I'm addicted to textures now. These are a few of the ones I've done for a film called Dream Giver. I don't know how I got roped into doing cloth but that's all I've done lately. I've got a few more textures that need some touch ups. hopefully I'll get those posted soon.

I've been so busy with Maya and Renderman I haven't had much time for drawing so I decided to play around a bit in Photoshop.

Shader Final

so for my final in shader programming we had to insert a CG element into a photograph. It was really hard but really fun. The lighting was especially tricky. I always seem to pick difficult lighting schemes for all of my projects. You'd think I would learn my lesson and go with something a little easier my first time around. There are a few things I would like to change before I put this in my reel but overall I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I took the photo outside of my apartment if anyone was wondering.

Here are some pages from my most recent sketchbooks. while I was putting these together I came to the realization that I draw a lot of heads particularly female heads. I also discovered the joys of markers. I'm rather pleased with how they turned out. yay prismacolor.

I was sick and tired of looking at those refrigerant magnet advertisements that come with every phone book so some friends and I sat down last night and painted them. It's been so long since I've done some good old arts and crafts.

Over the break I thought I try my hand at digital painting in Photoshop. I'm pretty pleased with the flowers and most of the background. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hurray for figure drawing

So I've finally hopped on the band wagon and got myself a blog. here are my favorite figure drawings from this summer. They took anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours and are done in pastel pencil on some awesome strathmore charcoal paper. except for that black one. It's charcoal on newsprint. Special thanks to my professor William Maughan for helping me out on a few of them when I was struggling.
